Email Migration
Move mail from Gmail, Outlook, Zoho, and other providers into MoovMail.
Migration paths
| Method | Best for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| IMAP migration (admin) | Whole organization or many mailboxes | Admin → Domain → Migration wizard, or /migration |
| Mailbox import (user) | Single mailbox PST/MBOX/EML | Settings → Accounts → Import/Export |
| Onboarding migrate path | New orgs moving from another host | /onboarding → Migrate Email |
Supported IMAP sources
Guided flows exist for:
Before you migrate
- Complete organization setup and add user mailboxes in Admin.
- Configure DNS records so new mail routes to MoovMail.
- Obtain IMAP credentials or app passwords from the source provider.
- Plan a cutover window — you can run migration while old MX still receives mail, then switch MX when ready.
During migration
- Admin can view migration tasks, batches, progress, and errors.
- Large mailboxes may take hours or days depending on volume and source rate limits.
- Folder structure and attachments are preserved where the source supports IMAP.
Leaving MoovMail (export)
To move mail out of MoovMail, configure the new provider (Gmail, Microsoft 365, etc.) to connect to MoovMail IMAP (mail.moovmail.com:993) using a MoovMail app password. See IMAP client access.
After migration
- Point MX records fully to MoovMail.
- Update client apps with MoovMail IMAP/SMTP settings and a MoovMail app password.
- Enable 2FA and verify security settings.
